While not popular or “politically correct” it is simple, where are our elected leaders? Where are our civic leaders? But most importantly, where are our “faith” leaders?
Like most Americans regardless of race, creed or color – believer or nonbeliever in Christ, I am disgusted and heartbroken over the senseless excessive force used on George Floyd that lead to his death. Thankfully, with clear video evidence, the police officer was fired and charged with third-degree murder. What lead to this unnecessary tragedy, as reported:
“Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill. He was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, and he was pronounced dead later.”1
Three other officers on the scene have been fired as well and charges will likely be brought against them. This is not an issue that should lead to mayhem in many of the major cities across our nation. From the quarantine of the Coronavirus, sudden business closures, near record unemployment within months and resulting illness and death, pressure has been building and the pent-up frustration and anger was set to erupt. It did, these are indisputable facts.
What we are witnessing is twofold – true rage and violence over the loss of another life and the exploitation of those in the physical and evil realms with evil intent. After the first few days many protesters no longer carried signs for George Floyd but chose destruction of businesses, looting, burning vehicles and inflicting harm on innocent Law Enforcement Officers, Secret Service Agents and National Guardsman. As we have seen before, “paid” anarchist (thugs) were sent in to agitate peaceful protesting for the agenda of dividing Americans and sowing discord between ethnic groups and Law Enforcement (repeat of Ferguson, Missouri in 2014).
While not popular or “politically correct” it is simple, where are our elected leaders? Where are our civic leaders? But most importantly, where are our “faith” leaders? Perhaps I missed the press conference or did not see the vaunted members of the “Faith Advisory Council” – if so, please accept my humblest apology. As I understand, this august body of men and women of “faith” is comprised of representatives of the ecumenical community. This should include individuals of faith that have large diverse congregations, audiences via radio, television, the Internet, newspapers or a combination of any of the afore mentioned. Where are they and where is their voice? The same holds true for clergy/pastors/priests of congregations throughout this nation – both urban and rural. Sadly, where is the Martin Luther King, Jr. of our day – a true man of “faith” and peace? Nowhere I am afraid.
These are the times when individuals, houses of worship and faith-based groups and organizations should recognize the times and season (as the Tribe of Manasseh, 1 Chronicles 12:32) and call for prayer. We are at war over the soul of our nation and the powers of darkness will do anything to destroy the principles of our Founding Fathers, values of those who hold to Judeo-Christian values or those that simply love this nation. I believe the Apostle Paul, a legal scholar and Messianic-Jew, stated clearly in Ephesians 6:12 – “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against Principalities, Powers and Evil Rulers ’spirits’ in high ‘heavenly’ places.”
This is not up to the President to solve all on his own – this is the time for the Church (Ecclesia or at this point, the remnant) to fall on our knees and do warfare on behalf of our nation. But what I hear is “crickets.” There are prayer groups and intercessory groups for everything under the sun – please, someone sound the Shofar (blow the trumpet in Zion.) for what we have witnessed the last few days. We need the power of prayer to stop another advancement and opportunity “seized” by an enemy that is unrelenting, does not take a day off and certainly does not abide by any set of standards or rules. Yes, I am old-school and believe in the power of prayer. As James states in the second half of chapter 5:16, “…for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!”
Pray for the family of Mr. Floyd, pray for those who innocently and peacefully protest, pray for Law Enforcement, pray for “Justice” in our Judicial System, pray for our President and please pray for our nation. Move your Sovereign Hand Father, as we repent (2 Chronicles 7:14) and humble ourselves in praying for peace and the restoration of our nation.” God bless you and God bless the U.S.A.
