The National War Council: The Truth About 501 C 3’s – Update: Confirmation to the Johnson Amendment

CONFIRMATION TO THE JOHNSON AMENDMENT

Beto O’Rourke says he’d strip churches of tax-exempt status if they don’t support same-sex marriage.

During the Democratic debate on October 10, 2019 Beto O’Rourke confirmed my caution for 501 (C) 3 organizations. He thinks that religious institutions should be stripped of their tax-exempt status if they oppose homosexuality.

“While at a CNN candidate forum about gay and transgender issues, moderator Don Lemon asked the 47-year-old former congressman whether he supported revoking the tax-exempt status for religious institutions such as churches, colleges, and charities, if they don’t support gay marriage. Yes,” O’Rourke responded, to much applause.”1

This pretty well negates the First Amendment given that now some churches are to be more equal than others in “Betoworld.”  Did he say anything about taxing devil-worship churches for being repulsive?  Nope, just the ones whose traditional beliefs date back millennia.

In O’Rourke’s “Plan to Pursue Equality for LGBTQ+ People and Ensure They Can Live Openly Without Fear of Discrimination or Violence,” he lists reversing the Trump administration’s “attempt to expand religious exemptions in order to enable discrimination or harm others.”2

Again, quoting this (say anything do anything) political loser, “There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America, that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us,” he said. “So, as president, we’re going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.”3

Of course, one may ask, “where is the leftist Democratic candidate to oppose this blatant grotesque effort to end freedom of religion in this country?”  Nowhere.  Democrats never criticize Democrats in this era; they just adopt each other’s more extremist ideas, which certainly explains why Bernie Sanders has such influence.

Luke Goodrich, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, a religious liberty law firm, called it “blatantly unconstitutional,” adding “it’s also foolish because those groups provide billions of dollars in essential social services to their communities. Churches and ministries should be allowed to hold centuries-old beliefs without fear of government retribution.”4 Although a sincere and accurate statement by Goodrich, when has the Constitution or facts ever stopped the destructive socialist agenda? These leftist ideologues are following in the pattern of the previous Administration that weaponized the IRS against conservative organizations, purposely set out to destroy the coal industry and allowed hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants into the United States.

For those of “faith” throughout the ecumenical community; I simply state, caveat emptor – “let the buyer beware.” This is the first anti-democracy liberal to state their intended purpose – reverse President’s Trump executive order that protected 501 (C) 3’s from the Johnson Amendment. You may not like Donald J. Trump but this President firmly stands in between the religious freedoms we enjoy and the heavy hand of Democrats who seek to erase more than two centuries of liberties provided in the Constitution.

Blessings,
