From the SFGate we read of the backtracking by Lanny Davis over his recent claims of Trump’s “collusion”:
Fellow patriots, please listen to this short, inspiring message from General Flynn. General Michael Flynn exemplifies patriotism, courage, and love of God and country - despite some of his own countrymen relentlessly attacking him. Donations for his defense are greatly appreciated. If you can only give $5.00, please do so - every little bit helps. Thank you so much, and God bless. Letter from General Flynn.
An attorney for Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, is backing away from confident assertions he made that Cohen has information to share with investigators that shows Trump knew in 2016 of Russian efforts to undermine Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Lanny Davis, a spokesman and attorney for Cohen, said in an interview this weekend that he is no longer certain about claims he made to reporters on background and on the record in recent weeks about what Cohen knows about Trump’s awareness of the Russian efforts.
Davis did not rule out that his claims were correct but expressed regret that he did not explain that he could not independently corroborate them, saying that he now believes he “should have been more clear.”
Further into the article:
CNN reported last month that Cohen was claiming to have witnessed Trump being informed of the Russians’ offer by Trump Jr. and that the then-candidate approved the meeting.
In the past week, when asked directly by CNN’s Anderson Cooper whether there was information that Trump knew about his son’s meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya beforehand, Davis said, “No, there’s not.”
In a statement Saturday, a CNN spokeswoman said, “We stand by our story, and are confident in our reporting of it.”
The get Trump at all costs mainstream media just keeps on beating the Russia narrative – even when their “reporting” is shown to be on very shaky ground.
First of all, why would anyone take anything Lanny Davis has to say about anything without a grain of salt? Lanny Davis was President Bill Clinton’s special counsel during Clinton’s scandal-laden presidency. Davis was a spin doctor to the nth degree – and he still is.
He has written about himself that, “what I do for a living is crisis management.”
Even liberal outlets have not always been kind in their opinions of Davis, with the Washington Post having once described him as an “irrepressible public gabber” In 2012, New York Magazine writer Jonathan Chait referred to Davis as a “buffoon” and a “sleaze merchant”.
Davis has once again revealed the muck raking, sensationalism that has characterized his career. He pushes a story about then candidate Donald Trump having advance knowledge of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting, where Donald Trump Jr. expected to receive damaging information about Hillary Clinton from a Russian lawyer.
CNN then reports last month that Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen was saying that he witnessed Trump Jr. telling his dad about a meeting where he expected to get damaging information about Hillary Clinton, and that Donald Trump approved the meeting.
CNN, the Washington Post and others breathlessly then run with this damaging narrative.
There’s just one problem – the “source” for all of this was Lanny Davis – who has now backed up like a Yankee shortstop saying that, “I should have been more clear – including with you – that I could not independently confirm what happened. I regret my error.”
Davis then said, “I was giving an instinct that he might (referring to Cohen) have something to say of interest to the special counsel” (emphasis added).
An instinct? Cohen might have something to say of interest?
And CNN, as noted earlier, is “standing by their story”. Is it any wonder that CNN has become the laughing stock of cable news? Sorry CNN, good reporting takes facts, not “instincts” about something that “might” happen.
All of this certainly proves one thing – the left, including their minions in the MSM have only one agenda – to get rid of Trump, facts be damned.
