Over the weekend, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made some waves when he appeared on CNN when he forcefully dropped an expletive in reacting to the hypocrites who condemn him for maintaining a good relationship with President Trump.

Graham, who hasn’t always been on team Trump (remember he was very anti-Trump during the Republican primaries), is now seen as one of the President’s most important allies on Capitol Hill. This tendency for Graham to work with a President, that he seems to be at philosophical odds with on a number of issues, has frustrated some in the media and on the left. It’s as if they’re surprised when Republicans support the President’s conservative policies and don’t challenge him at every single turn (like the Democrats and the media does).
Happy Birthday, Mr. President!
You’re keeping your promise to make America safer and more prosperous.

Well, Graham is tired of getting criticized for doing the exact same thing he used to do when Barack Obama was President, and he decided to say so on CNN.
CNN host Kate Boulduan: People say this is two-faced. Where’s the Lindsey Graham standing up to Donald Trump?
That’s when Senator Graham dropped the hammer. He called out the media hypocrites who love to see Republicans work with Democrats, but hate it when Republicans work with other Republicans. And he did it in as Trumpian fashion as he could manage.
Lindsey Graham: When I worked with President Obama –– and I did on occasion –– I was a hero. Now when I work with President Trump, I’m two-faced. I know how the game’s played and I don’t give a damn.
I’m going to do what’s best for the country, I like the president, I want to help him, I hope he’s successful, he’s been a friend to me and he says some things I don’t agree with. So if you don’t like me working with President Trump to make the world a better place, I don’t give a s***.
Graham is right on point here.
I spent years attacking him for his seemingly pathological need to work with the Democrats on advancing their leftwing agenda. He, John McCain, and a number of other centrist Republicans seemed dead set on giving Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi everything they wanted and that was frustrating for the GOP’s conservative base. Now, I have to give Graham credit for his consistency, he has continued to work with the President even as some of the other GOP “moderates” have decided to stand against him. It’s as if some Republican politicians were happier to work with a far-left Democrat than they are to work with a pragmatic Republican, simply because they don’t like his personality.
It’s childish, it’s counterproductive, and it’s bad for our country. Kudos to Graham for refusing to stand with those anti-Trump GOP leaders.
