Lindsey Graham says DACA Illegals are “Part of our Country,” and “They will Add Great Value”

I think we should begin by stating that most American sympathize and empathize with the 800,000 DACA recipients.

They didn’t choose to come here, and it’s not their fault that their parents and President Obama all promised them something that neither of them could provide (The parents brought them illegally, and Obama amnestied them illegally).

General Michael Flynn defense fund Fellow patriots, please listen to this short, inspiring message from General Flynn. General Michael Flynn exemplifies patriotism, courage, and love of God and country - despite some of his own countrymen relentlessly attacking him. Donations for his defense are greatly appreciated. If you can only give $5.00, please do so - every little bit helps. Thank you so much, and God bless. Letter from General Flynn.

Some of the DACA recipients have been here for a very long time and are American in every way except the legal one (which is important). Some of them know no other home but America.

So we empathize, we sympathize, we feel pain for the decision that must be made. If we amnesty these 800,000 people, then it signals the rest of the world that we will amnesty the next 800,00 minors who come across our border, and so the devastating cycle continues. Thus, we must deport all 800,000 and ask them to reapply for entry, legally.

Next, we should make it clear that  a full HALF of the DACA recipients are OVER the age of 20 (85,0000 are over the age of 25). These are not little kids being ripped from their parents, folks. These are adults being sent back to their country of origin.

The government data explains:

Most of these adults have enjoyed the best public education in the Western Hemisphere and so jobs shouldn’t be a problem. In fact, most of the DACA adult recipients would be among the most privileged in their nations upon returning to their legal homes.

As Kansas’ Secretary of State, Kris Kobach explained on MSNBC, DACA recipients should go home thanking the American people for all that we’ve already done for them.

“A couple of things. One is that he’s gotten a great gift from the American taxpayer. He’s gotten the best free public education in the Western hemisphere. And, you know, he should be grateful because we the taxpayers have paid for that.

If you want to be part of the American country, then do it legally. Go to the home country. Your parents who brought you here illegally could go with you.”

But this isn’t how Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sees things.

Graham and other GOP Senators believe that the DACA illegals should be granted permanent amnesty because they “will add great value” to our nation.

“Jeff Sessions is wrong. These kids are not taking jobs from American citizens. They’re a part of our country. They’re fully employed, for the most part. They’re in school. They will add a great value. The president’s right to want to have a heart for these kids.”

I respect Senator Graham’s position, and I appreciate the fact that he admits that President Trump was right to rescind Obama’s DACA rule because it was unconstitutional… but isn’t his evaluation of why the DACA illegals should be amnestied troubling? He argues that these 800,000 people should be allowed to skirt our laws simply because they are prepared to add economic value to our nation, is this the threshold now for lawful behavior?

That’s not the only problem with Graham’s DACA opinion. His colleague, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) who also sympathizes with the plight of the “Dreamers explained:

“President Trump took a first step today toward cleaning up the mess that President Obama’s unlawful amnesty left behind. President Trump is right that this amnesty would never have stood up in court. Yet, we now face a situation where 800,000 people, who were brought to our country as minors, face legal limbo. Dealing with this problem is a legislative task, not an executive-branch task. But we must recognize that codifying the DACA program will have two negative consequences: encouraging future illegal immigration with minors and allowing those 800,000 people to obtain legal status for their family members via chain migration, which rewards the very people who broke the law in the first place and further depresses working-class wages. Thus, we must mitigate these consequences by stopping the chain migration that hurts the working class and by strengthening the enforcement of our immigration laws. I’ve introduced legislation, the RAISE Act, that would limit the amount of low-skilled immigration coming into our country, and my colleagues have several proposals to strengthen enforcement. These should be the starting point of our discussions, and I look forward to working with all of my colleagues to come up with a deal that protects American workers.”

Amnestying the DACA illegals opens a pandora box of problems, just as every other amnesty ever undertaken has. One of the most important lessons we learned from the Obama era of immigration law enforcement is that the posture of a nation on immigration, plays a very important role in illegal immigration. During the Obama era illegal immigrants flooded across our border in unprecedented numbers, as soon as President Trump was elected that flow of illegal traffic dropped precipitously. Nothing had changed, other than the rhetoric coming from the administration, proving that our posture, our attitude, matters.

If Congress amnesties the 800,000 DACA recipients we will soon face a new flood of illegal minors expecting all of the same benefits, privileges, and rights that we’ve afforded to the Dreamers. Congress must take care because the answers to the DACA question are just as fraught with danger as the question itself is.
