Nwo reporter Allison Hillman just posted below a very critical article/announcement that just occurred regarding the highly emotionally charged situation in Page, Arizona dealing with the Navajo Generating Station. This coal fired energy plant is owned by Arizona Salt River Project (SRP), and provides very significant water and electrical power resources to well over 1 million customers in central Arizona. Besides that significant fact, the Navajo Generating Station (NGS) provides the primary livelihood for the city of Page, Arizona, approximately 525 Navajo workers directly in the plant, and approximately $43 million dollars income annually to the Navajo Reservation, economically less expensive energy to Phoenix and surrounding cities. The closing of this major energy plant would have serious, immediate, and far-reaching implications basically shuttering the City of Page, Arizona, a tremendous loss to the Navajo People, not to mention economic ripples felt well into the State of Arizona. In every manner thinkable, the shuttering of NGS would present a myriad of significant problems. Eight years of Obama gutting America’s economic engine(s) have sorely taken a toll, some of which are still to be realized. Eight years of strangling business, industry, and the economic prosperity of the United States by slick political emotional marketing, contradictory and unattainable policies and regulations; then fines, threats, more layers of regulations and government have created a nightmare for the energy industry across America. Navajo Generating Station (NGS) is but one terribly horrendous example of the Obama strangling nightmare that has a dimension of reality that will not simply go away when morning arises.
Fellow patriots, please listen to this short, inspiring message from General Flynn. General Michael Flynn exemplifies patriotism, courage, and love of God and country - despite some of his own countrymen relentlessly attacking him. Donations for his defense are greatly appreciated. If you can only give $5.00, please do so - every little bit helps. Thank you so much, and God bless. Letter from General Flynn.
Acting Deputy Secretary of the Interior James E. Cason, along with tribal and other federal officials, met in Washington, DC during the first week in March to discuss this looming economic disaster. Salt River Project officials declared the pending closing of the NGS Plant is due to low costs of natural gas compared to coal. NGS officials shared at this Interior meeting they might be forced to close the plant by July 2017, in order to begin and complete the two-year reclamation process they would be under once closure occurred. Navajo Nation President Begaye’s position is to keep Navajo Generating Station (NGS) open till 2030 to determine factors in the best interest of the Navajo Nation, employees and the economic engine even to the State of Arizona the plant provides. Navajo President Begaye stated over 3,100 direct and indirect jobs are affected by the NGS and Kayenta Coal Mine that feeds the NGS Plant. A recent Arizona State University study concluded that NGS provides an economic impact to the region of over $230 million with a devastating impact to Arizona. Leaders from tribes in the Greater Phoenix area also were in attendance. The Tohono O’odham Nation and the Gila River Indian Community presented still another economic dimension little known, but would be keenly felt by the closure of NGS; namely, the impact of depending on the Central Arizona Project for water usage, which is powered by Navajo Generating Station. The Hopi Tribal Chairman, Herman G. Honanie was also in attendance and said the Hopi Tribe would experience an immediate increase in unemployment that is approximately 60% now; and an 80% loss of The Hopi Tribal general fund budget derived from royalties directly related to the Kayenta Mine.
The Navajo people, like First Nation People across our country, have been subjected to bias rules and regulations for decades with little concern for the impact that will be experienced when the ink dries on whatever government document is issued. GOOD for Navajo President Russell Begaye and the other tribal leaders for standing against a Goliath, and presenting the “human side” to the environmental mockery that for too long has been revered as “true science.” The coal dug from the Navajo/Hopi joint use mine is so clean, so pure, that it has to be tempered just to be used at Navajo Generating Station. The owner/operator of the Navajo Generating Station, Salt River Project (SRP) has placed “environmental scrubbers” and other environmental cleaning agents, to all but eliminate pollution at this critical energy and economic producing plant. But the Obama EPA refused to publicize this fact. There is far more to this still unfolding tragedy, and reading Allison Hillman’s report below will provide some additional information. ~LJR
Native American Nation Celebrates As President Trump Does What Obama Never Could
With the mainstream media overreacting to everything President Trump does, it can be almost impossible to sort out the truth. They create such a firestorm, the actual impact gets lost in the smoke. Even when he accomplishes something that nobody else was able to.
We saw it happen with his immigration ban. While the liberal press was running around screaming about a racist president, Muslims were commenting that the ban made sense; they were largely ignored. Common sense and truth rarely factor in for the left.
It appears to be happening again with the president’s energy policies. The press is complaining about the environment meanwhile there is relief among one Native American Nation.
Hiding behind a concern for the environment, Obama enacted several regulations that put a strain on an already struggling industry. In one of his many last-minute regulations, Obama produced even more laws that would affect coal miners, “designed to protect America’s streams and waterways from pollution produced during mining operations.”
