A Very Serious Question

General Michael Flynn defense fund Fellow patriots, please listen to this short, inspiring message from General Flynn. General Michael Flynn exemplifies patriotism, courage, and love of God and country - despite some of his own countrymen relentlessly attacking him. Donations for his defense are greatly appreciated. If you can only give $5.00, please do so - every little bit helps. Thank you so much, and God bless. Letter from General Flynn.

“How far can God take a man who He knows will always say “Yes” to Him?” That is the question that loudly echoed in my head as I awoke at 1:30 am this morning, and I knew God was asking it. It was so loud and insistent that I had to get up and address it, and so at 1:30 am I had a discussion with God about it. While I was talking it over with Him, He asked a second question: “Do you want to be that man?”

Now I know that some will read this and say doubtful things about my claim that God spoke to me, and my answer is this – first, I wouldn’t say it unless it were true, and second, it is probably your “logical” mind that’s keeping you from hearing Him too. Do you want that to continue? Would you rather hear from God, or do you want to keep hearing from your doubts?

These are the kinds of questions that we can sometimes hear from pulpits, preceding the soft music and the altar call when all the congregation dutifully rises to their feet in assent, but when God asked me the question this morning, it was different. He was very serious, insistent and wanted a rather immediate, thoughtful response. In fact, He was so serious about it that I told Him my heart’s inclination, but asked if I could talk it over with my wife during our devotions before breakfast, before finalizing my response.

After our devotional readings, I told my wife about my encounter. She told me that she had also been awake at the same time I got up, and while I was downstairs, she was hearing much the same question from Him. How like God! We are one in His sight, and He treats us as one.

I have a feeling that anyone who pre-commits himself to say “Yes” and pre-commits himself to never say “No” to God, will have an unlimited destiny unfold before him. Why not be that person? How come people will risk death just to have a thrill, but back away from God when He asks for our complete trust? How can we jump out of perfectly good airplanes for sport, but cringe in recoil when God asks for complete control? Which carries more risk? Why do we hide and dodge the really important questions?

I think the question God asked me this morning is the pivotal, dividing line between the good saints and the great ones. I know Paul was asked the same question, and I know with certainty how he answered. In fact, I would venture a guess that after praying all night, Jesus hand picked the twelve apostles based on the Father’s knowledge of their forthcoming answers. Why these twelve, and not twelve others?

So here’s my question for you: Will you be that person? Be careful how you answer, for there’s always a cost, but will you be that person? No matter what comes, no matter how dire or intimidating the circumstances might sometimes look, will you commit today to never, ever saying “No” and always saying “Yes” to God? Really? Will you?

Let the journey begin…I want a full ride and a window seat

John

  1. Ohhhh be careful how you answer – you may end up in Wyoming and unknown destinations after that! 🙂 “Laying Down my Net – A Walk of Faith.” my first book. I answer , “yes” before thinking and I wouldn’t be where I am had I said, “No.”
