As I send this message, I am fully aware sadness prevails across our country upon the death of three Servant Heroes gunned-down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana earlier today. Another Servant Hero who wore a badge also died today in Milwaukee. Heroes each…servants without a doubt. In the days to come many words will be shared about their lives, and about their service to their communities and fellow citizens. These memorials will be filled with words and songs and more words giving honor to those who ran toward gun fire, not away like so many people, but towards the danger and the unknowing. Bag pipes and muffled drums most likely will sound notes that will touch you deep inside and pervade your spirit hopefully so you will never forget the sacrifice they made, and would make again today if they could.
Fellow patriots, please listen to this short, inspiring message from General Flynn. General Michael Flynn exemplifies patriotism, courage, and love of God and country - despite some of his own countrymen relentlessly attacking him. Donations for his defense are greatly appreciated. If you can only give $5.00, please do so - every little bit helps. Thank you so much, and God bless.
Letter from General Flynn.
Something else died today…actually has been dying over the past eight or so years; the ability to laugh and joke and laugh some more without malice. Americans historically have laughed. We seem to be forgetting how to anymore. So I decided to take a risk, to go against the current, to send a commentary dealing with laughter. Cops laugh. They laugh more than most citizens know, and maybe, in part, because they witness so much that is not funny, not laughable. Cops laugh…and in some squads and stations, they are known to play a joke or two on their fellow officers but in a good-natured sort of way…because cops laugh, they value the sound, they tuck away the smile to draw upon at times when there are no sounds of laughter only the sounds of the bag pipes and muffled drums. The Servant Heroes we honor today would understand, they would encourage you to find again the ability to laugh. We need this quickly fading gift in our country maybe even more at this time then last year.

So true. Both of my husbands were in law enforecment (I liked the uniforms 🙂 ) and both had great sense of humors. It’s how they survive what they see every day.
Thank you, Sue, for taking a moment to share your comment. I, too, wore a badge and know first-hand both in the giving, and the taking, of kidding and laughs among cops. I never experienced a mean-spirited gag. That may exist, as cops are not perfect but overall cops have bigger hearts than the public knows. They have to hide this fact as a survival technique. You would know this right-well being married to officers. I would say the more difficult role in law enforcement is the one wives perform. Cops can be quiet and withdrawn at times just to process what they saw and did during their shift. But they do enjoy to laugh and smile far more than citizens know. Presently we as a nation better find our ability to laugh. Where are the Clowns…there better be clowns…prayerfully they are still here. ~LJR
Yes, I’ve witnessed what you have mentioned here. It truly saddens me to watch this trash on T.V. and how the media is feeding the distrust, hatred, anger, and the misconceptions of our law enforcement men and women. It’s like some kind of feeding frenzie. I see so few stories about the “hero” cops, which to me all of them are hero’s. I sure won’t get out there knowing I’m going to get shot at! The many times I watched my late husband work out in his gym with a vengence just trying to purge himself of the days events and those times when he laughed so hard it brought tears to his eyes. These people have no clue what these brave men and women are about, and what is even worse, they don’t seem to care. So thank you Lyle for however many years you served. And may I add, some of those clowns ——– are cops. Blessings to you.
